Welcome

Hello! I’m Alice, a freelance Voice and Dialect Coach based in London. I work with clients on how to get the most from their voice, how to use their voices more confidently and authentically as well as accents and dialects. I work with private 1:1 clients, small groups and am also currently teaching in some of the UK’s leading drama schools.

A little bit more about me...

I was born and raised in South Wales, I always had a love of performing be it in a school production or with the local youth theatre. I went on to train as an actress at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland before working professionally in theatre and television for nearly 10 years. 

Having always had a passion for voice and text work, I decided to embark on further training at the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama on the MA Voice Studies course, graduating with a Distinction in 2018. Since then, I have been busy working as a freelance voice coach, both with private clients and in a number of the UK’s leading Drama Schools.

I am passionate about working with actors in training, finding it a challenging and fulfilling learning environment. I am currently teaching at the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama (MA Musical Theatre), Rose Bruford (BA Hons Acting and BA Hons Actor Musicianship) and at the Emil Dale Academy / University of Bedfordshire (BA Musical Theatre). I have also recently spent time teaching at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland.

I am also a founding member of COR Collective. We offer confidence building and public speaking workshops for clients including The Telegraph, White Company, Pan Macmillan and Hardie Grant.

Whilst training as both an actress and a voice teacher I have been lucky enough to work with and learn from leading practitioners including Kristin Linklater, Catherine Fitzmaurice, Annie Morrison, Barbara Houseman, Frankie Armstrong, Clare Davidson, David Carey, Rebecca Clark Carey, Nadine George, Julia Moody, Ros Steen and Jacquie Crago.

I am continuing to offer 1:1 and group classes online, as well as now offering 1:1 sessions from my home in East London.

I am a native Maltese speaker however Alice helped me work on achieving a standard British accent, particularly a 1940's tone to my speech, for a play I am currently performing in. Working with Alice is so easy,  she walks you through a word explaining how each sound is produced so vividly, along with explaining and detailing what the mouth is doing and where the sound should be placed. I found her explanations very clear, playful and precise, which not only motivated me to practice and perfect the accent we were working on, it also took little effort to remember the sounds due to these clear explanations and examples. Alice is  also very available for her students and so supportive of their work and progress. I would suggest her to anyone who is looking into learning or improving on any accent.

I love Alice’s classes. I didn’t think learning an accent could ever be easy until I met her. If you want to learn a number of different accents and struggle, I can guarantee that by the end of the first class you will feel a hundred times more confident and competent… I could barely maintain one before and now I can do 10! I still go back to her for top up classes.
